Mobile bloggers use the mobile phone
to upload images and text onto the Internet.
This means that a mobile blogger can technically send out a message to the whole world in less than a minute. Moreover, all you need to start mobile blogging is a phone with a GPRS connection and ideally a camera.
For example, Varun P Krishnan, a mobile enthusiast, takes a picture of the reporter and the cameraman at work and it's up on his website in a jiffy. He uses Shozu.com, which offers free blogging applications
to upload the pictures.
But mobiles are also unwieldy things and GPRS connections still unstable. So is mobile blogging picking up in India?
"I would say yes because I see a lot of users using such applications in India. I see a lot of discussions in forums and people are using it a lot. GPRS charges have come down to a certain extent and people are willing to pay for the service," said Varun.
The advantages of such immediacy are being tapped around the world.
"A very popular thing happens in the US and UK. People take pictures of people violating traffic and post them and the traffic police comes to the website and prosecutes the violators," said Varun.
And wouldn't it be great if this happened in India as well.
May be??
